Since Innes' last update we spent another week in the Bishop area. Matt and Anna had to go home at the end of April - unfortunately their plane was not delayed by volcanic ash. We spent a week sport climbing at the Owens River Gorge. No photos I'm afraid - now that we are on our own there is nobody to take them. Also our camera has stopped working properly.
Then we spent a slightly surreal evening in an RV park watching the UK election results come in over the internet. At least we didn't have to stay up all night to find out that nobody had won, as we are 8 hours behind the UK. I can't really believe that the Lib Dems will do a deal with the Tories, but you never know. If there is a Tory Government will I have a job to come back to?
The day after the election we moved on to Lake Tahoe, which is about 200 miles north of Bishop and on the other (west) side of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is a complete change in climate - much colder but also a lot greener. We enjoyed the absence of sand and dust, the grass and the big trees. However we didn't get that much climbing done in Tahoe, because for the first time this trip the weather got bad. We managed two half days climbing at a place called the Sugarloaf, and then it started raining. After that it started snowing, and didn't stop for 24 hours. So we decided to cut our losses and head to Yosemite a couple of days early. Now we are ensconced in an RV park about 30 miles from Yosemite Valley, and looking forward to our first glimpse of El Cap, Half Dome etc tomorrow.

  1. you guys probably know by now that torries are in power as lib dem did make a deal with them. we could not believe it. we had a bit of a hope two days ago when there were news that the awful frog of former PM, Gordon resigned from the Labour leadership, and lib dem were in discussions with Labour. then it all stopped suddenly with Labour saying that Lib dem had too many demands that they could not meet....i cannot immagine what the torries accepted that labour could not, but there you go, coalition government, torries and lib dem. marriage made in heaven!

i am not sure if you have a job when you come back, I have been on a week holiday as my brother and his wife is here. by the time i left work they still did not announce who got the contract renewed. the rumour was that the cause of delay was due to a major provider - - pointing towards refugee and migrant justice - may have lost their contract and they were appealing. did not announce the others just in case their contract needed redistributing. not sure if they announced it since, i'll let you know when i get back to work on Monday.

I finally have a bump, officially fat and very unconfortable, cant say that it is much fun not being able to sleep on my belly. is like having a moving rock in my belly. but hei the delights of the pregnancy!

good news that my due date is mid october so we will have about one month overlapping and i heard that you agreed to take on my lovely clients! so, i will try to get rid of as many as possible.

oh, and i won my deportation appeal in basically 15 min on HR grounds and the judge reserved the decision on asylum grounds. i had G brown and we also argued that he is part of a PSG, on account of the wife being at risk, the judge seemed convinced but wanted to have a think about it. we had IJ Nicholson, so we were really lucky with the judge. As you can immagine i was over the moon. And i won my HR appeal, the Zimb client with a FR mixed HR appeal, won for all three children which i am very proud of given that I had a IJ brown which G Brown said that she was rather unpredictable...

anyway, i need to take my brother shopping to manchester city centre, so wish me luck to survive a day of shopping. I wished Emma agreed to take them around.

enjoy Yosemite! i am soo jealous!!!
